Edo Governor Okpebholo Pledges Decisive Action Against Insecurity to Protect Farmers

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to rid the state of criminal elements and create a secure environment that allows farmers and residents to carry out their daily activities without fear.

The governor gave this assurance on Friday while inaugurating the All Progressives Congress (APC) Council Election Campaign for the Edo Central Senatorial District at the Uromi Town Hall in Esan North-East Local Government Area.

Okpebholo emphasised that ensuring the safety of farmers and restoring their confidence remains a top priority. He pledged that his government would continue collaborating closely with security agencies and other stakeholders to safeguard lives and property while promoting peace and stability across all parts of the state.

The governor stressed the need for a firm and uncompromising approach to insecurity, warning that those terrorising communities would face the full force of the law. “Governors are ready to fight insecurity across the nation. The perpetrators will be exposed and they will run away from the country,” he declared.

He added that in Edo, there would be no hiding place for kidnappers and bandits. “In Edo, there will be security and our farmers will be able to return to their farms. I am serious with the fight against insecurity. By the time we execute one, two, three and more of these criminals, others will run away from Edo,” Okpebholo stated firmly.

The governor also acknowledged the support and partnership from President Bola Tinubu, which he said has contributed to ongoing development efforts in the state. He called on APC members and supporters to intensify mobilisation across their communities to ensure victory for the party’s candidates in the upcoming local government elections.

Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North Senatorial District, urged the party’s candidates to prepare seriously for the responsibilities that come with winning. He highlighted the importance of grassroots development and collaboration with the executive arm, especially following the granting of local government autonomy by President Tinubu.

The State APC Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, welcomed defectors into the party and called for unity behind Governor Okpebholo. He urged members to work hard to deliver victory in the local government polls as a stepping stone to stronger performance in future elections.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, former PDP senatorial chairman, Bishop Okosun, praised the governor’s development strides and pledged their full support for the APC-led administration.
