The Edo State Police Command has successfully trained 160 personnel to bolster their operational capabilities in addressing crime within the state.
This announcement was made by Commissioner of Police Betty Enekpen Otimenyin during the closing ceremony of the training program held on Sunday.
In a statement shared with journalists in Benin City, Public Relations Officer Moses Yamu emphasized that this initiative aligns with the commissioner’s commitment to eliminating crime in the region. The training, which involved two batches of officers, covered essential areas such as VIP escort, ambush and counter-ambush tactics, musketry, combat craft, tactical retrogression movement, and search and rescue operations.
Commissioner Otimenyin stated, “In her quest to rid the state of crime, the Commissioner of Police, Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin, directed the immediate retraining of personnel to enhance their operational capabilities in tackling the challenges ahead.”
She urged the trained personnel to remain vigilant and courageous in their duties, emphasizing the importance of responding swiftly to security breaches while maintaining high professional standards, free from harassment, intimidation, and extortion.
The commissioner reassured all residents of Edo State of the command’s commitment to providing improved, effective, and efficient police service under her leadership.
