Edo State Government Launches Building Recertification Drive in Benin Metropolis

The Edo State Government has announced plans to embark on a comprehensive building recertification campaign in Ugbor, Ogheghe, Amagba communities, and surrounding areas to prevent building collapse and ensure public safety.
Commissioner for Physical Planning, Urban and Regional Development, Isoken Omo, urged the public to collaborate with ministry officials during the exercise, stating, “We are launching ‘Operation Show Your Building Plan’ to ensure compliance with building regulations and guarantee structural integrity.”
Property owners and developers in the designated areas are required to present their building plans for clearance and recertification upon request. Ministry staff will conduct property-to-property inspections to verify building approvals, and cooperation from the public is essential to avoid any disruptions.
By implementing this initiative, the government aims to safeguard lives and property, promoting a secure and sustainable built environment in Edo State.”
