Hon. Dr. Tunde Lakoju – A rare gem

Hon. Dr. Tunde Lakoju

The greatest undoing of Akoko-Edo is the sabotaging of Hon. Dr. Tunde Lakoju second term as house of representatives. Whatever was the reason for those political gladiators for doing so, I am sure they can all see today, that their act did plunged Akoko-Edo into a shadow of itself.

As a teenager, I came close to Hon. Lakoju because any time he is in town (of course, every weekend he is in Igarra) his doors are always opened. In 2005, together with my friends, we watched the finals of the under 17, world cup (coached by Yemi Tella and won by Nigeria) in his parlour. It was wow! That was the first time I knew that Nigeria have about 21 national daily newspaper (I actually counted). Together with his aids, they discussed Nigeria.

I have gone into archive and discovered for my self that the project influenced and executed by Hon. Lakoju is yet to rivaled. If you think otherwise, produce your facts.

As a member of parliament, he produces newsletter of his activities every month for accountability and stewardship. I have some with me. As a matter of fact, I don’t think any legislator in Nigeria still does this.

Despite in the opposition then (APP), he was a delight in the green chamber and this gave Akoko-Edo great advantage.

Every weekend, except when out of the country (which he rarely do) he is in Igarra holding meeting with the then LGA chairman, Chief AA Amune and other party executive for the good of Akoko-Edo. This is no longer obtainable in Akoko-Edo. Oga na Boss. Every man for himself, GOD for all of us.

For the four years he was in the green chamber, his constituency office was open. Mr Adashipa still alive, was in charge of the constituency office.

He played politics of a honest gentleman.

He mentored so many for effective. leadership
