The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has significantly enhanced its operational capabilities in Edo State through the specialized training of over 200 personnel.
The comprehensive program focused on strengthening security operations and intelligence gathering to address evolving security challenges within the state.
The training encompassed a range of critical areas, including Very Important Person (VIP) protection, disaster management, public safety protocols, security intelligence techniques, crime prevention strategies, and correctional administration procedures. These specialized courses are designed to equip officers with the advanced skills necessary for effective performance in diverse security scenarios.
During the certificate presentation ceremony held on Wednesday in Benin City, Mr. Saidi Akintayo, the State Commandant of the NSCDC, emphasized the importance of continuous training and retraining in maintaining effective security operations. He stated that ongoing professional development is crucial for personnel to remain proficient and adaptable in the face of emerging threats.
Akintayo highlighted the positive impact of the training programs, noting that they have significantly improved the command’s operational efficiency, intelligence gathering capabilities, disaster response effectiveness, anti-vandal activities, and conflict management strategies across Edo State.
“No security organization can effectively discharge its mandate without continuous capacity building and exposure of personnel to modern security techniques and global best practices,” Akintayo asserted.
The State Commandant affirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to investing in human capital development to ensure that its officers are professionally equipped to tackle emerging security threats proactively. He also lauded the Commandant General of the corps, Ahmed Audi, for his transformative reforms and leadership initiatives that have enhanced professionalism, operational effectiveness, and personnel welfare throughout the nation.
Akintayo reassured residents of the NSCDC’s dedication to sustained proactive security operations and enhanced collaboration with other security agencies to create a safer environment in Edo State. The NSCDC aims to maintain a strong presence and work in synergy with other law enforcement bodies to ensure the safety and security of all residents.
